RANGELY I The third rodeo of the 2022 spring college rodeo season was hosted by Weber, in Ogden, Utah, at the Golden Spike indoor arena this past weekend. CNCC’s Hadley Gross tied for seventh/eighth place in the long go-round of the barrel racing on her indoor/backup mare “Rita.” Then, the due came back and took a tenth off of their time in the short-go round, to place sixth. They were just out of placing in the aggregate, but they made two really nice, pretty runs.
Sadie Shake had the nicest first barrel she and her equine partner “Ricky” have had at all three of the indoor spring rodeos, and that was a huge accomplishment. They ended up tipping second and third barrels, but that 1st barrel was so amazing, we didn’t really care. Sometimes the accomplishment doesn’t show on the score board, but you know you rode well, and that is what Shake did in Ogden.
The goat got the best of Gross in Ogden, but she will be ready for battle this coming weekend, when CNCC hosts its own Spartan Showdown college rodeo at the arena at Columbine Park on April 1-2. Performances are nightly at 6 p.m., with slack being run at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Spartan Showdown is honoring veterans in the arena during the singing of the National Anthem both nights of the rodeo. They would like to extend an invitation to all veterans who would like to attend and be a part of the presentation in the arena nightly. Please call 970-629-3466 for more information if you are a veteran, and would like to attend. Please arrive by 5:30 p.m. to be a part of this group. CNCC rodeo will provide veterans with free entry to the rodeo both nights, if they will be a part of this group, to say “thank you.”
