Colorado Advanced Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Spine (CAO) in Meeker, Colorado, recently moved into its new expanded clinic space, increasing its footprint at Pioneers Medical Center just two years after its grand opening.
Approximately 4,000 sq. ft. of additional clinic space was added to CAO’s existing 11,000 sq. ft. orthopedic specialty clinic. The addition includes seven new exam rooms, more offices, storage areas, an expanded nurse station, and a waiting area for sick patients with ventilation that will exhaust the air from the waiting area.
CAO celebrated its second anniversary in July, yet, increasing patient volumes, demand for their fellowship-trained surgeons, and excellent patient outcomes warranted additional clinic space.
According to internal patient data, CAO total clinic volume increased 65.72% from 2020 to 2021, and to date, 59% of orthopedic clinic visits since 2020 came from patients who reside outside of Meeker.
“We take pride in the relationships we build with the patients and communities we serve. We accomplish this by focusing on outstanding patient care, reliability, durability, and customer service. We are proud of our quality outcomes,” said Liz Sellers, CEO of Pioneers Medical Center.
CAO’s outstanding orthopedic team plays a significant role in the clinic’s success and includes fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kevin Borchard. His skilled surgical techniques, extensive training, and exceptional patient outcomes motivate patients from all over the country to visit Meeker for his specialized orthopedic services.
“Dr. Borchard and his staff do a wonderful job of caring for their patients pre- to post-operatively. They treat patients efficiently and with respect and compassion. Dr. Borchard is willing to see and evaluate each patient’s case no matter their circumstances; if he can help them, he will,” said physical therapist Sean Richardson, MSPT, who rehabilitates some of Dr. Borchard’s patients at FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers in Grand Junction. “His surgical techniques with the new Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System seem to ease post-operative pain. This, in turn, makes the rehabilitation process less difficult to achieve strength and range of motion goals. Many of his patients can return to their recreational and daily activities within six weeks post-surgery. We see great outcomes with minimal difficulty, and often patients participating in activities they did not believe were ever achievable again,” he said.
Over the past five years, FCI Constructors, Inc. has been Pioneers Medical Center’s trusted contractor, working on several improvement projects with the organization. “The teamwork shown throughout the expansion and renovation has allowed this project to finish on time and under budget with a high quality during a difficult time to build with rising material costs and materials and labor challenges,” said FCI Senior Project Manager Lance Kramer. “We appreciate the opportunity to build and expand the capabilities of Pioneers Medical Center with a new CT Machine, increased Sterile Processing space, Emergency Department Security Improvements, and the enlargement of the Orthopedic clinic,” he said.
In addition to Dr. Borchard, CAO’s fellowship-trained orthopedic team includes Dr. Dan Ward, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in total joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee; Dr. Gregg Martyak, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a fellowship in hand and upper extremities; J.Alex Sielatycki, MD a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon with fellowship training in Comprehensive Spine Reconstruction, Dr. Justin Grant, DO, CAQSM, a board-certified family physician with a fellowship in Sports Medicine, and Dr. Mark Purnell, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a fellowship in Sports Medicine.
