PRESS RELEASE
MEEKER | The Colorado Sleep Institute at Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker recently received accreditation from the Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP), making them the first A-STEP Introductory Course Provider in Colorado. The accreditation process involved a detailed evaluation of The Colorado Sleep Institute’s program, including the faculty, curriculum, resources and assessment.
“I am so excited to bring the first A-STEP Program to the state of Colorado, especially in the small, amazing town of Meeker,” said Allie Raper, RSPGT, course Program Director and Facility Director of The Sleep Center at Pioneers Medical Center. “This career has changed my life and I am excited to share my passion with others! Sleep is an exciting field to work in. Many people do not realize how common it is for people of all ages to have issues with their sleep. Whether it is sleep apnea, insomnia, muscle movements, snoring and so much more. Sleep really sets the tone for your day, and I really enjoy helping people have better days!”
The A-STEP Program provides participants with standardized education and training that develops a knowledge base about sleep medicine and strengthens the professional skills required of a sleep technologist. These professionals are responsible for administering sleep tests to patients, and they provide patient care and education at sleep facilities.
Students who enroll in the A-STEP 80-Hour Introductory Course through The Colorado Sleep Institute at Pioneers Medical Center will receive both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training for a well-rounded educational experience. Following successful completion of the course and its final exam, students will continue their education through Online Self-Study Modules while completing on-the-job training provided by their employer.
The A-STEP program is a significant resource to the local community as it ensures specially trained sleep technologists provide the highest quality of care to patients suffering from sleep disorders through assessment, comprehensive education, and treatment follow-up.
Individuals interested in receiving formalized education and training in sleep technology can contact Allie Raper, RPSGT by telephone at 970-693-6025 to learn how to enroll as an A-STEP trainee at The Colorado Sleep Institute at Pioneers Medical Center.
