RBC | The Rio Blanco County Board of County Commissioners have called a special Board of Health meeting for tomorrow, Nov. 12, according to an agenda posted to their website. The meeting will begin at 3 p.m., and participation is by telephone only. Call (970)878-9432 to listen in.
The agenda lists, “Update and Discussion of the current COVID-19 recommendations for Rio Blanco County and adoption of any plans” as the order of business.
The meeting was posted after COVID numbers spiked sharply in the county over the past week, especially on the Meeker side. Twelve new cases have been reported since Monday. This puts the number of Rio Blanco County residents currently positive for COVID-19 at 25, with 21 cases in Meeker and 4 in Rangely. One person is reportedly in the ICU in Glenwood Springs. Total cases in RBC stand at 57.
None of the current cases have been traced back to an “outbreak” (two or more cases in a single workplace, etc.) at this time. If the cases are unrelated, this is an indication COVID-19 is spreading unhindered within the county.
One particular concern is Rio Blanco County’s higher proportion of high-risk individuals.
Call (970)878-9432 to listen to tomorrow’s Board of Health meeting.
