Auditions for Seussical Jr.

MEEKER | Auditions for the fall production of Seussical Jr. the Musical for third through eighth graders will be Friday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. at the MHS auditorium. If you would like to be considered for a part with lines and solo singing, please prepare a short song and a short speech. Fee is $30. CNA class starts Sept. 5

MEEKER | The Meeker Certified Nursing Assistant training program is holding its next class from Sept. 5-29 at Meeker High School. The class is open to any interested parties age 16 and older. Please notify meekercnatraining [email protected] for further information. The program coordinator will reach out to you.


Public Comment meetings for Fair Board Sept. 7

MEEKER | The Fair Board is holding public comment meetings Thursday, Sept. 7 in both Rangely and Meeker. Both will begin at 6 p.m. Rangely will be at the Rangely Annex building, and Meeker will be at the Extension office in one of the exhibit halls. 


LDS local conference Sept. 9-10

RBC | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a two-day local conference on the Sept. 9-10 in the Craig chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 1295 W 9th St., and are open to anyone who would like to know more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Speakers will include church leaders serving in the Vernal Utah Temple, the Denver South mission area, and local church officials of the Craig Stake. The Saturday, Sept. 9 session for adults will be from 6-8 p.m. and the Sunday session for all ages will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Sept. 10.  Visitors are welcome. 


Library book club Sept. 11

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club will be reading The Secret Knowledge of Water by Craig Childs. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!


Free legal Clinic Sept. 13

MEEKER | A free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney will be held at the Meeker Regional Library on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. Volunteer attorneys will answer questions and explain the process and procedure for all areas of Colorado civil law, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues, and civil protection orders. Contact your Meeker Library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. All free. Space is limited.


Out of the Darkness Community Walk for suicide prevention Sept. 16

MEEKER | The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about. Join New Earth Spiritual and Metaphysical Healing in raising awareness to prevent suicide on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Meeker at 10 a.m. Check-in is at 9 a.m. It’s 100% free to register and walk. Donations are greatly appreciated, and for every $150 raised you receive an event T-shirt. We have sponsorship options as well. Next Christian Community Book Club

MEEKER | The next Christian Community Book Club book is going to be “God’s Not Dead,” by Rice Broocks. The cost is $10. Readers can purchase a hard copy, or download from an e-book or audiobook. Hard copies should be available next Sunday. Jayne Coley will be leading the discussion groups for this book. Date, times, and scope will be announced soon.
