Scenic Byway reception June 18

MEEKER | Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway reception June 18 — The Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway Committee will host a community reception Thursday, June 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the White River Museum in Meeker. The event will celebrate the Smithsonian exhibit and offer an opportunity to learn more about the scenic byway and the committee’s efforts to protect, promote and enhance the route connecting Meeker and Yampa. Attendees can participate in interactive activities highlighting favorite places and experiences along the byway and meet committee members and fellow community members. Light refreshments will be provided.

Kids in Business Day June 26

MEEKER |  Mountain Valley Bank is looking for budding entrepreneurs to participate in the 5th annual Kids in Business Day, which will take place on June 26, 2026. Kid business owners can submit their vendor application and learn more details in person at Mountain Valley Bank, 400 Main St., Meeker. This event is free to participate, and a great opportunity for kids to earn some money and learn business ownership skills.

Fish Fry fundraiser June 26

MEEKER | The White River Alliance will host a family-friendly Fish Fry fundraiser on June 26 at Meekerpalooza. The event will feature fish tacos, a fly-fishing competition, educational exhibits on river restoration and aquatic life, and a chance to win a fly-fishing rod. Proceeds support the White River Master Plan and ongoing river restoration efforts.

Library seeking cookbook recipes

MEEKER | Meeker Public Library is collecting recipes for a community cookbook. Submit recipes at the library or email [email protected] with your name and phone number.

Crafternoon at the library June 26

MEEKER | Come hang out with friends, craft and have snacks. This month we will be painting on mini-canvas and previous crafts will also be available. Friday, June 26 from 3-5 p.m. 

Free financial literacy classes offered 

MEEKER | United Way of the Yampa Valley will offer a free three-class financial literacy series covering budgeting, saving, debt management and credit building on June 24 and July 8 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Blue Spruce Room, 345 Market St. Dinner and childcare will be provided. Community Mitigation Project June 30 

MEEKER | Project partners involved in the Resident Mitigation & Resilience Project in eastern Rio Blanco County will host a community meeting on Friday, June 30 at 6 p.m. at the Buford Schoolhouse. Residents in the Ute, Papoose, Marvine, Buford and Crooks Park areas are encouraged to attend and learn about local wildfire mitigation efforts and forest health initiatives. Topics will include funded defensible space programs, chipping days, site assessments, and community engagement opportunities supported through the Community Wildfire Defense Grant. Local Working Group Meeting July 2

MEEKER | The White River Conservation District will host a Local Working Group Meeting for NRCS at the Meeker Fire Protection District on July 2 at 6 p.m. Local producers and community members are encouraged to attend and share input on natural resource concerns including rangeland health, water quality, drought resiliency, weed control, forest health, wildlife, irrigation, livestock management, and energy development. Fire Preparedness Day at Meekerpalooza 

MEEKER | The Conservation Districts and Forest Health Partners invite the community to a free Fire Preparedness Bootcamp for Landowners on Friday, July 17, from 5-7 p.m. on the Rio Blanco County Courthouse lawn during Meekerpalooza. Topics include defensible space, home hardening, chainsaw and fire extinguisher safety, slash management and more. Smokey Bear and a fire truck will also be on site. The event is held with Meekerpalooza and the White River Electric Member Appreciation Event. Call 970-878-9838 for information.
