Water Initiative planning meeting June 6

MEEKER | The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) of the White River Integrated Water Initiative will be meeting on Thursday, June 6 at the Meeker Firehouse. The meeting will run from 6-8 p.m. The PAC will receive an update on the water model being developed by Dr. Ryan Bailey, discuss Upland Vegetation Management and Diversion and Riparian Assessments.

Food preservation classes June 8

MEEKER | Learn about food preservation at the RBC Fairgrounds kitchen (700 Sulphur Creek Rd., Meeker). Jams, jellies and fruit spreads, All things tomatoes, June 8, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, class fee $25. Register at https://col.st/yi6NR or call 970-625-3969 ext. 1. 

Library book club meeting June 10

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading “The Paris Hours” by Alex George. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, June 10, at 1 p.m. Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Fish Fry June 15 at Buford School

MEEKER | Please join the White River Community Association for the annual Fish Fry at the Buford Schoolhouse from 4-6 p.m. on June 15. Meal is $15 per adult, $10 for seniors, $5 for children 12 and under. 

Quilt raffle fundraiser June 15  

MEEKER | Ellen Reichert donated a quilt made by Kathy Sizemore with squares created by the late Hazel Rosenlund. Purchase tickets at the White River Museum where the quilt is currently on display. The raffle will be held June 15 during the annual fish fry at Buford School House (winner need not be present). Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $20.

ERBM Meet & Greet  

MEEKER | Stop by Meeker Recreation Center, 101 Ute Road, on Tuesday, June 18 between 2 and 4 p.m. to meet and welcome new Executive Director Josh Embrey. Light refreshments provided.

Pioneers Association planning meeting June 12  

MEEKER | The RBC Pioneers Association Steering Committee will meet at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 at the Heritage Culture Center 517 Park Ave. The 112th-anniversary reunion dinner and dance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the 4-H Building. Please save the date. New members of the Steering Committee are invited to join this planning meeting to share ideas for improved events. There are no prerequisites for joining the association and all are invited. Forest health
community meeting, open to the public

MEEKER | June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Buford School House. Join us to discuss ways to improve forest health in the White River National Forest and adjoining private properties. Learn about wildfire risks in your area, resources to manage these risks, and ways to increase safety and resilience. CPW’s Cast, Blast & Twang June 22

MEEKER | Mark your calendars for the annual Colorado Parks and Wildlife Cast, Blast & Twang fishing, archery and shooting event on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nine Mile Guest Ranch. Activities include .22 rifle and shotgun shooting, archery, fly fish casting, spin fishing and lunch. Free for all ages and persons interested in learning new outdoor skills. All gear, instruction and lunch provided. No previous experience or equipment needed (do not bring firearms, can bring your own fishing or archery equipment). Participants 16 and older need a current fishing license for fishing events. No pets allowed. Call 970-255-6181 to register (not required but appreciated). 

Town Hall events with state reps

RBC | House District 26 Representative Meghan Lukens and Senate District 8 Senator, Dylan Roberts will host Town Hall events to recap the 2024 Colorado Legislative Session and answer questions. The Rangely Town Hall meeting will be June 17 from 12-1 p.m. at 209 E Main and in  Meeker on June 17 from 5-6 p.m. at the Meeker Public Library (490 Main St.).
