Religious Freedom Conference in Grand Junction Oct. 7

RBC | A free Religious Freedom Conference is set to take place in Grand Junction on Oct. 7, 2023, inviting the citizens of northwestern Colorado to participate. The event will emphasize the importance of preserving religious freedoms, featuring speakers with diverse interfaith backgrounds and expertise, including Josh Cook, Pastor of Victory Life Church; Tina Snover, Western Colorado Multi-Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and Dave Edwards, President of Grand Valley Interfaith Network and former mayor of Palisade. The keynote speaker, Steven T. Collis, an expert in First Amendment law and a professor at the University of Texas-Austin School of Law, will provide insights into the topic. The event is open to the public and free of charge, taking place at Colorado Mesa University’s University Center – Meyer Ballroom West from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Meeker Library book club Oct. 9

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club will be reading “The American Agent” by Jacqueline Winspear. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Upcoming free legal clinic

MEEKER | A free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 2-5 p.m. Volunteer attorneys will answer questions and explain the process and procedure for all areas of Colorado civil law, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues and civil protection orders. Contact your Meeker Library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. All free. Space is limited. 

Walbridge Wing craft sale Oct. 13

MEEKER | The Walbridge Wing annual craft sale is set for Friday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pioneers Medical Center boardroom. All proceeds will benefit the Wing Activity Fund.

Calling all writers!

MEEKER | The month of November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a free, annual, international creative writing event in which participants attempt to write a 50,000-word manuscript during the month of November. Local author Marissa Lupe has organized Camp NaNoWriMo in Meeker at the library on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 14, Thursday, Nov.  21, and Thursday, Nov. 28 from 6-8 p.m., for writers to come together for encouragement and conversation. Writers of all genres and levels are welcome. For more information about NaNoWriMo, visit nanowrimo.org.
