Author book signing during Meeker Classic
MEEKER | Local author Lou Dean will be signing copies of her books, “The Amazing Grace of Dogs” and “Autumn of the Big Snow” at the Meeker Classic in the Art Barn on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Her most recent release, “Autumn of the Big Snow,” is a finalist in the Colorado Book Awards contest for 2024.
LDS conference in Craig Sept. 7-8
RBC | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a two-day local conference on Sept. 7-8, 2024. Meetings will take place at the Craig chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1295 W. 9th St., and are open to anyone interested in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Speakers will include church leaders from the Vernal Temple, the Denver South Mission area, and local officials from the Craig Stake. The session on Saturday, Sept. 7, for adults will be held from 5-7 p.m., and the session for all ages will be on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. Visitors are welcome.

MEEKER | Two meetings to hear public input about the Rio Blanco County Fair are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the County Fairgrounds, and Thursday, Sept. 12 in the Ag room at Rangely High School. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m.
Meeker Library Book Club
MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by T.J. Klune. We will meet to discuss the books at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!
Free Mental Health First Aid Certification Course Sept. 18
MEEKER | The Mental Health First Aid Certification Course, supported by the United Way of the Yampa Valley, is free and teaches participants to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness. The course provides an evidence-based intervention model for assisting individuals dealing with mental health or substance abuse issues. This course will be held at Mountain Valley Bank (400 Main St.) on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For certification, participants must pre-register (call Tom Gangel at 970-819-2625 or email [email protected]), complete a 2-hour online webinar prior to Sept. 18, and attend the 6-hour training on Sept. 18.
