It’s National Radon Action Month
MEEKER | January is National Radon Action Month and all Colorado citizens are strongly encouraged to test their homes for radon. Radon is a naturally occurring, colorless and odorless radioactive gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, contributing to as many as 500 lung cancer deaths in Colorado each year. Rio Blanco County Public Health and Environment offers free testing kits in Rangely and Meeker. Please contact Public Health at 970-878-9520 or [email protected] for more information.
Community dinners starting up
MEEKER | Starting in 2023, we are going to be serving community dinners once a month (to start with) at the Meeker Veterans Community Center (a.k.a. V.F.W. Post 5843). The dinners will be on the third Thursday of the month and will be served at 290 4th St. from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The dinners are free to anyone and a good place to visit and meet new friends. The V.F.W. Post 5843 and Auxiliary will host the dinner on Jan. 19, 2023 and the United Methodist Church will be hosting the dinner on Feb. 16, 2023. Eventually, we would like to have different local organizations host the dinners for our community. Contact Vicki Crawford at 970-756-5023 if interested in hosting a community dinner.
