New officials to be sworn in Jan. 10: UPDATED INFO
RBC | Newly elected county officials will be sworn into office on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Sheriff’s Office Training Room in the Rio Blanco County Justice Center (entrance on the east side, across from St. James Episcopal Church) with a reception to follow before the regular Board of Commissioners meeting starts at 11 a.m. (Editor’s Note: The elevator at the courthouse is in need of repair and the technician can’t get to town because of the weather. In order to maintain ADA compliance, the meeting location has been changed.)
Youth archery club starting up
MEEKER | Kids between 5-18 years of age who are interested in archery are encouraged to join the Meeker S3DA Arrowbusters Club. The Club is a chapter of the Scholastic 3-D Archery program tailored for young archers. A special focus for this non-profit organization is for youth to earn opportunities to continue their archery career with scholarships to college. This program enables kids to shoot year-round with indoor, outdoor target and 3-D competitions. Contact Danny Bair at 307-710-0161 or Kim Bair at 801-792-7587. Membership is $25/year.
Book club Jan. 9
MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club book will be a reader’s choice on the theme of “new beginnings”. We will discuss the books on Monday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun.

Community dinners starting up in 2023
MEEKER | Starting in 2023, we are going to be serving community dinners once a month (to start with) at the Meeker Veterans Community Center (a.k.a. V.F.W. Post 5843). The dinners will be on the third Thursday of the month and will be served at 290 4th St. from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The dinners are free to anyone and a good place to visit and meet new friends. The V.F.W. Post 5843 and Auxiliary will host the dinner on Jan. 19, 2023 and the United Methodist Church will be hosting the dinner on Feb. 16, 2023. Eventually, we would like to have different local organizations host the dinners for our community. Contact Vicki Crawford at 970-756-5023 if interested in hosting a community dinner.
Historical society annual meeting
MEEKER | The annual membership meeting of the Rio Blanco County Historical Society will be Sunday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Culture Center on Park St. Come and renew your membership or join for the first time, enjoy a potluck lunch and entertainment, and get caught up on all the activities of the RBCHS during the last year.
