Ukraine presentation Oct. 12
MEEKER | The Meeker Assembly of God Church is hosting a presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from Ukraine Orphan Outreach, a non-profit charity operating within the country of Ukraine and ministering to the needs of orphans and families. Field Director Oksana Gorbunova is in the United States for the purpose of educating communities about the war in Ukraine, and presenting the challenges and great needs facing non-profits in that region. If you are interested in learning more about what the Ukrainian peoples are facing and how you can help meet those needs, all are welcome to attend. There will be a charitable offering taken, for any wishing to donate to this cause. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. 381 Market St., Meeker.
Small biz class in Hayden
RBC | Small businesses looking or needing to shift out of startup phase and into “what’s next” are encouraged to attend a two-day StartUp to ScaleUp course in Hayden, Colorado on Oct. 14-15. This interactive class will give existing small business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and local leaders the opportunity to evaluate their own business, learn growth and marketing strategies, understand the process of scaleup finance and funding and take their business to the next level. Free legal clinic Oct. 14
MEEKER | The next free legal self-help clinic for parties without an attorney will be Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 2-5 p.m., hosted by the Meeker Public Library. Volunteer attorneys will assist one-on-one via computer. Contact the library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign up sheet.
Frisch campaign stop Oct. 15
MEEKER | Adam Frisch, candidate for Congressional District 3, will be in Meeker, Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Meeker Public Library meeting room, from 1-2 p.m. to meet with the community. It is an opportunity for the community to listen and ask questions of RBC’s potential representative. An informed voter will choose a candidate that best represents the needs of Rio Blanco County.
White River Alliance elk herd presentation Oct. 26
MEEKER | Learn about our White River Elk Herd: Past and Present at the Smoking River Brewing Co., on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in Meeker, Colorado. Join the White River Alliance in person with a beverage, or by Zoom for a presentation by Darby Finley, Wildlife Biologist for White River Office of Colorado Parks and Wildlife about the White River elk herd migration patterns, health and habits, past and present.
Wild horse adoption Nov. 4-5
RBC | There will be a Piceance East Douglas Herd Management Area wild horse adoption event on Nov. 4-5, 2022, at Rimrock Adventures in Fruita, Colorado, at 927 Hwy. 340. Public viewing begins on Friday from 12-6 p.m. and Saturday from 7-10 a.m. Silent bidding from 10-10:30 a.m. Horse clinics, wild horse demonstrations, food trucks, vendor booths and “lots of horse people.” TIP trainers welcome.
