RBC | The resolution approved by the county commissioners Tuesday did not enact a current fire ban in Rio Blanco County. The only fire bans in place currently are on Forest Service land. The resolution allows the Sheriff’s Office to implement or cease a fire ban without requiring a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.
The new resolution will be in place only until the executive order from the governor’s office — “Ordering the Temporary Suspension of Statute Concerning Bans on Open Burning Due to the Presence of COVID-19” — expires. The executive order nullified a county resolution passed last year giving the sheriff’s office the authority to implement or cease a fire ban.
The HT regrets the error in this week’s report on the county commissioner’s meeting.
The text of the county resolution follows.
