RBC I Rangely High School students were back in the classroom on Aug. 15 while Meeker students started Monday.
Practice of fall sports officially started Aug. 15, and three days later, Rangely’s golf team was already competing.
By press time, the Panther golf team will have already played in three tournaments, the first in Cedaredge, followed by one in Delta and they played in Craig on Monday.
Meeker’s softball team will be the first team to take the field, starting the fall sports seasons for the Cowboys. The Meeker girls’ softball team will open the season today in Basalt, where both Rio Blanco County cross-country teams will run on Saturday.
The Meeker Cowboy football team will open the season in Ault on Friday against the Highland Huskies while Meeker’s volleyball team will play in North Park on Saturday.
Rangely’s football team will not take the field until Sept. 2, when the Panthers will travel to Dove Creek for their first game of the season. The Panthers will host their first home game the following week against Del Norte on Sept. 9.
Rangely’s volleyball team does not take the court in competition until Sept. 2 either, but they will open the season at home, hosting a varsity and a junior varsity tournament on Sept. 2-3.
