RANGELY | Several Rio Blanco County road signs have been stolen in the Rangely area. At least 10 missing signs have been reported in the last week.
While this may seem like a harmless prank, these missing signs create major traffic hazards, especially at night. The county urges those responsible to stop stealing these signs and reminds them if a crash occurs because of a stolen sign, they could face charges connected to the crash as well as the theft.
County crews are replacing the signs at a cost of more than $100 each including materials, labor and vehicle; a cost Rio Blanco County taxpayers get stuck with.
The county is asking the public’s help to report any information about these incidents. If you have any knowledge about the people responsible, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 970-878-9600.
