Cowboy baseball falls to Denver Christian in second round of state playoff games

MEEKER | The Cowboys needed two wins to continue on in the playoffs and sealed the first in a close 4-3 win over the Wiggins Tigers. Jake Blazon pitched five innings and Carson Klinzmann two with scores by Klinzmann, Ethan Quinn, Blazon and Clay Crawford.

The next game was against the defending state champions, Denver Christian.

“We had a great season, finishing 16-9, finally getting a playoff win but fell short of our goal,” began head coach Donald Blazon.

The 0-6 loss against the Thunder ended the season and high school sports careers for the seniors.

“Our six seniors Blazon, Spencer Gates, Ryan Sullivan, Jace Mobley, Quinn and Oliver Holmes are all taking the next steps in life, there is no doubt in my mind that they will make a positive impact on whatever they pursue,” commented Blazon.

Coach Blazon wrapped up by saying, “I’ve submitted my resignation letter to the district, but I wanted to thank all the parents and fans who’ve supported us for the past nine years. It’s been an incredible journey and I feel very grateful to be called (COACH) by these young men. We’ve made so many great memories on the field, on the bus, at the hotel (freshman bellyflops are the best), and team dinners.  Thank you again for supporting the Meeker Cowboys.”
