The Cowboys completed their final regular season home game last Friday with another dominating win, 41-8, over the Olathe Pirates.
“The boys played good, Coach Darby changed things up a bit on defense, and they executed,” commented head coach Andy Coryell.
Connor Blunt led with three touchdowns, Clay Crawford two, Casey Brink had one and Jake Blazon kicked six extra points.
Blunt topped the team with 91 yards rushing, while Crawford had 66 yds, and Xavier LeBlanc 48; and through the air Ryan Sullivan met Crawford for 35 yards and Brink for another 23.
On defense Hayden Schults brought down the most with nine, Elijah LeBlanc seven, Judd Harvey and Brendan Clatterbaugh each with six.
Meeker finished the season 5-3 and after another weekend with big shake ups in the polls, they moved down to 11 in combined ranking. The number 11 spot kept them on the other side of the bracket from Limon and matched up with the number six Wray Eagles.
The Eagles graduated their quarterback and this year they are being led by sophomore Casey Midcap, but they are four deep in the QB spot, all backed up by number 62 Tell Wade. Wade was the 285 runner-up last year at the state wrestling championships, and is ranked statewide in sacks. Their leading rushers are number 3 Sam Meisner and number 5 Brady Collins.
The game will be broadcast on stormysports.net and Stormy Sports Network also has an app available. Game time is Saturday at 1 p.m.
