MEEKER I The Cowboys are sitting number one in their league and after last weekend’s wins moved up to 30 in the rankings. They need to be in the top 32 to make it to regionals and have four more games to get it done. They are undefeated in the league and look to keep it that way by minimizing the errors.
Last Saturday they only allowed five points in the two games against the Olathe pirates. In game one they won 16-5 with Damik Chintala and John Hampton Hightower on the mound and in game two they went 15-0 with Carson Klinzmann pitching.
Leading scoring for the weekend was Liam Deming with five runs, Trinden Powell and Ryan Sullivan each had four, and Jake Blazon and Hightower three.
On Tuesday the Cowboys went 1-1 in a non-league competition with the Moffat County Bulldogs. Multiple players were out due to illness which may have assisted the 14-4 loss in game one. In game two the Cowboys rallied for a close and tough game, winning 5-3 scoring the winning runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win.
This weekend are the last two home games of the year when the Grand Valley Cardinals travel to Meeker for a double header that begins at 11 a.m. Saturday They then will take on Rangely next Tuesday at 2 p.m.
