MEEKER | Klark Kindler and his Cowboy basketball team won big last Friday in their first game back after the holidays. Led by Jacob Simonsen with 14 points, the Cowboys won 50-36 over what Kindler called a “historically scrappy and tough team.”
Three Cowboys made it into double digit scoring, alongside Simonsen was Ryan Sullivan with 12 and Jace Mobley with 10.
The Cowboys came out strong, with more than double the score of the Rattlers at the half, they held them off and put up another strong fourth quarter. ” We played well. Baggs is a tough place to play. We got a good lead and answered every run they made,” coach Kindler said.
Mobley had 11 defensive rebounds as the top Cowboy rebounder, Jonathan Fitzgibbons had nine total, and both Ethan Quinn and Simonsen had four each.
This week marks the beginning of the main part of the season. With three games this week alone, they played at home Wednesday, and will be on the road to Olathe Friday and Parachute Saturday.
The Olathe games will begin with boys JV at 4 p.m., and Saturday the Grand Valley games begin at 1 p.m. with girls JV.
