Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking public input on proposed big game regulation changes in Northwest Colorado, including a proposal that could expand cow elk hunting opportunities in the White River herd area. For the E-6 White River elk herd, CPW is considering changing antlerless elk licenses from List A to List B, which could allow hunters to hold a cow elk license in addition to another elk license.
The agency is also considering restoring over-the-counter antlerless archery licenses in the herd area. Other proposals under review involve the Bear’s Ears and Grand Mesa elk herds and a bighorn sheep unit near Red Table Mountain.
The public can review the proposals and submit feedback through CPW’s Northwest Region Big Game Proposals Survey through Oct. 15. Proposals selected to move forward will be presented to the Parks and Wildlife Commission in November, with final regulations scheduled for consideration in January. Approved changes would take effect for the 2027 hunting season.
