Clarence Morrow is building a neat four-room residence on West Park Avenue. E.D. Hayden has the contract.
The Meeker flour mill, which began grinding mid-October, will run for a couple of months yet, the amount of wheat coming in exceeding previous calculations. It is estimated that there were 18,000 bushels of wheat raised in this valley the past season, of which the mill has purchased nearly $10,000 dollars worth.

On Tuesday night about six inches of snow fell in Meeker. The snow was much heavier in high places.
The White River Lumber company got out a very useful and attractive calendar this year. It is one of the large wall variety, and each of the 12 months shows a picture of a residence, barn, some outhouse, showing floor plans.

The Denver TV signal in the Devil’s Hole area to the north of Meeker was knocked out of commission by a power surge Thursday morning for nearly two days.
Meeker’s Red Cross Committee is currently working on a “Meals in Homes” program inspired by other “Meals on Wheels” programs by Red Cross chapters to deliver meals to interested persons in their homes.

Meeker fifth graders spent a few hours last week dissecting sheep lungs to see how the oxygen exchange system works in the lungs as a part of the new elementary school curriculum.
The old 10th Street bridge is history. Last week the steel girder span over the White River was taken down, packed up, and trucked to a storage area along RBC 8 until it is erected over a drainage somewhere else in Rio Blanco County.

Mr. and Mrs. Al Pierson announced this week the sale of “Al’s Grocery” to Mr. and Mrs. John Toles effective Feb. 1 and will operate under the new name of the “TRADING POST.”
A power failure caused loss of reception of Denver’s Channel one day last week but service was restored by Saturday noon, according to maintenance man Bill Robinson.

In advance of its performance at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, the RHS Band hosted an evening on inspiring sound on Jan 20. The band is playing for the Colorado Music Educators association on Jan 22 among three other bands. Rangely will definitely be well represented by these young musicians.
Michaell Joos of the Meeker Police Department has been granted the National Commission on Professional Law Enforcement Standards award.
