- The weather closed last week with very heavy rains. This week has been a combination of sunshiny days, winds and cold nights.
- The Colorado Republicans are again declaiming for “law and order.” As a political rabbit’s foot this slogan is not as potent as it used to be.
- The county commissioners held their regular quarterly session Monday. It was the first time, we believe, in the history of the county that a regular session was disposed of in one day.

- A resolution establishing the rates to be charged for the pick up and hauling of all trash within the Town of Meeker was approved Monday night by the Town Council who also warned that the new trash ordinance recently passed will be strictly enforced.
- Meeker people attending the Club 20 meeting held in Steamboat Springs Saturday include Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cooley and family, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Berthelson, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson, Hugh Caldwell and Beth Tucker.

- DeLayne Kracht is the 1997 Meeker High School Homecoming Queen, and Isaac LeBlanc is the king. Robyn Stewart and Jed Lake were the first attendants, and Chrystal Johnson and Ryan Schopp were the second attendants.
- Charles and Glenella Vavak, of Meeker, narrowly escaped serious injury or death on Sept. 29 when a boulder crashed into their car shortly after 7 p.m. on Hwy. 13 near Colowyo Coal.

- At the last regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Rangely, a presentation was made to commemorate the services of Bernard F. Yaeger as Mayor of the Town for the last six years.
- Starting time of the feature at the Campus Theatre is now 7:30 p.m. Upcoming features include The Godfather, Junior Bonner, The Cowboys, Biscuit Eater, Napoleon and Samantha, and Joe Kidd.
Rangely Times ~ 25 years ago
- BLM removes 130 wild horses from Piceance basin.
- State Farm Insurance hosted 85 Rangely students at its temporary storm office at 101 E. Main St., to show them how the business works after a hailstorm damages cars and roofs.
