The street cleaning department has a force of men at work cleaning out the town ditches preparatory to turning on the water.

LL Offerle of Buford was attending a meeting of the Fish and Game Association in town last Friday evening.

Tom Kilduff was in from his Oakridge farm Monday. He made the trip in his fine Cadillac and reported the going good. 

New York reports indicate that there is a building boom, for all over the nation, about to start.

Maggie Ralston celebrated her 87th birthday. She was born Maggie Jones in Powell Park and attended the Lower Powell Park School. 

Mrs. Wilda Wood recently presented a new United States Flag to the Town of Meeker from the VFW Auxiliary #5843.

Mrs. Belle Hodges and her daughter Mrs. Rosamay Savage celebrated Mrs. Hodges’ 98th birthday, which fell on Easter this year.

Celebrating its seventieth year, the annual meeting of the Colorado Federation of Women’s Clubs for the Moffat District Club Women will be hosted by the Meeker Women’s Club. Flowers That Bloom in Spring will be the theme for the spring convention. The Grand Lakes Women’s Club and the North Park Women’s Club will be attending.

Over 60 pee-wee Cowboys wrestled in the Rifle Tournament last Saturday. The little Cowboys had eight champions, a dozen runner-ups, and consolation champs as well as nine fourth place finishers. 

The Barone Middle School has a very large track team, with about 40 participants.

The Rangely Lions Club annual broom sale will be held Saturday, April 20, from 9am to 5pm 

Rangely placed ninth out of fifteen schools in the Delta Invitational Track Meet, Saturday. Dale Lee took second in the 880 yard run and Alan Ducey third in hurdles. Cortez High School placed first in overall points in the meet.

Robert Dey, Public Information Officer at Rangely College, announced this week that Nora Danielson, Socialist Workers Party candidate for Governor of Colorado, will appear on the Rangely College Campus on Friday evening, April 19 at 8  p.m. in Room M-240. The topic of her talk will be “The Energy Crisis and the Environment: a Socialist Alternative.”

The CNCC board of trustees heard from the organizer of a major swimming competition that up to 1,000 swimmers and their families will be coming to Rio Blanco County for a swimming competition this summer at the top-flight swimming pool in the Rangely Recreation Center. More details are to come at a public meeting in Rangely on April 20.

Two-thirds of the world’s eggplant is grown in New Jersey.

In another freezing weekend, the Lady Spartans softball team traveled to Snow College for a four game series. Although the ground was dry, the temperature outside was well into the twenties with the wind chill factor. They won the second and third games.
