• Albert Romey is fast completing his new barber show in the old Jeffires Store. He expects to move next week . This will be one of the best shops in this small town.
• It is reported that Dave Morgan and C H Wolcott, who are drilling for oil at Elk Springs on lower Yampa river, have struck a small flow of oil at a depth of 700 feet. We hope it turns out to be a big flow.

• A heavy wind storm Tuesday afternoon was believed to have done serious damage to towers and television antennas on Melon Hill with the result that both Meeker and Rangely were left without television reception.
• The big attraction coming up this weekend in Meeker is the presentation of the Barber of Seville, a musical comedy by John Arnold Ford’s “Comic Opera Theater”.

• Pioneers Hospital announced at the last board of trustees meeting that the “Balcon family” from Grand Junction has awarded a $15,000 grant to the hospital for the new clinic. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the clinic are set for May 9.
• Members of “Bowling Brats” youth bowling league proudly display the trophies they received at their award and fun night, April 16, at White River Bowl.

• The White River Bowmen almost pulled the biggest upset of the indoor season by missing the 1st place in the men’s F.S. team by 3 points. The small but potent club outshot all of the large eastern slope teams except the Columbine Bowmen from Denver.
• Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peacock announced this week the sale of their Trustworthy Store located on Main St and announced that they plan to move to Stanolind Ave.. Their inventory has been sold to Randy Nelson of Roosevelt, Utah.

• Rangely residents enjoyed a “Taste of Rangely’ on Sunday afternoon in Elks park. The Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event in which locals sampled ”tastes” of an array of foods. The Chamber hopes to expand the event next year with more booths and live entertainment.
• Former Rangely resident, Mark Brady, is now living in Waikato, New Zealand, but recently just flew back to the US after he was invited to play for the Hamilton Hawks in January.
