• Considerable commotion was raised here last Saturday when it became known that special agents of the general land office had stopped the cutting of timber on the White River timber reserve. The orders concerning this matter are of a sweeping character, as the government officials not only stopped the local sawmill operators from cutting and sawing any more lumber, but every ranchman in the valley is prohibited from cutting a stick of timber on the reserve. These stringent and unjust orders will work considerable hardship on settlers in the valley as they will put a stop to many necessary improvements.
