• Oscar Sizemore and bride received a very warm and hilarious reception when they appeared in the Trappers Lake region on their honeymoon trip.
• This week was probably the rainiest week so to speak ever witnessed in this section.
• More railroad rumors: People here who are on the inside, make no secret that actual work on the road as outlined above will be underway early next summer.

• Meeker’s three grocery stores were asked Tuesday by the Herald if they had been notified to withdraw from their shelves any cans of Campbell’s chicken vegetable soup.
• Miss Vicki Hallmark of Piceance Creek earned an impressive 845 points to win the National Little Britches Rodeo Queen title Thursday, Aug. 12. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Weiland.

• The sheepdog committee issued a national challenge to all pig owners: the pig that can herd sheep the best will win $500 as part of the Meeker Classic “Babe” challenge.
• A new aid to rapid — almost magical — learning has made its appearance. Indications are that if it catches on all the electronic gadgets will be so much junk. The new device is known as Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge. The makers generally call it by its initials: BOOK.

• County road foreman Bernard Hazlewood announced the beginning of the surfacing of Jones and White streets and asks the cooperation of all motorists to detour from these areas.

• The Septemberfest has been a yearly tradition since 1983. This year, however, is very special. On Aug. 27, 1946, the town of Rangely was officially incorporated.
