The worst thing about a deadbeat is he is the last to find it out.

The skating rink was pretty well patronized during the past week. 

The weather the past week has been moderate compared with the previous week, and yet the mercury affiliates with the zero point every night.

Mr. Walbridge is convalescing from his recent indisposition, being out on the streets daily and steadily regaining strength.

High School News: Do you want to be in style? If you do, take my good advice and proceed with the following steps. First, you must march down to a well known MD and have your arm scratched (your leg if you prefer) and have a pretty celluloid covering over the spot. Secondly, wherever you go for next few days you must hold your arm and with a pained yet proud expression you must carefully explain that you have been vaccinated. Thirdly, it is absolutely necessary to be sick at least a week with the vaccination. 

A Denver paper says the turkey growing industry is growing rapidly in Colorado. Which leads us to observe that there is no better turkey growing section in the state than right here in Rio Blanco County.

The weather turned to snow and a gentle blizzard yesterday. As usual, we are getting fragments of a big storm that is general all over the Rocky Mountain region. Better winter now than later in the season.

Rio Blanco County Sheriff Robert Kracht was among nearly 300 officers from the United States and several foreign countries of the 91st session of the FBI National Academy graduating on Friday, Dec. 15, in ceremonies held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The annual White River Electric Assoc. Christmas drawing for junior high and high school students was held Saturday with a good-sized crowd attending. Little Priscilla Gutierrez had the happiest smile as she drew her brother’s name, Roman, as one of the winners from about 60 people who were present. Roman won a Sunbeam Jet Mist heated comb.

Responding to cries of outrage triggered by the huge price increase for natural gas in Meeker, representatives of Greeley Gas will appear before the Meeker Town Council to explain the reason for the price boost, and to answer questions from the public.

Workers began to demolish the old Tenth Street bridge. On Dec. 29 the old bridge was officially taken out of service, and the street was closed so workers could begin removing pavement. On Dec. 30, traffic began using the new bridge, which is not yet completed but is safe to use.

Rangely Times ~ 50 years ago

On Dec. 14 at 4:15 p.m. on Main Street, B.F. Yaeger of Rangely was eastbound when a westbound vehicle drive by Leland Wiley, Rangely, attempted to make a left turn across the highway onto Steele Avenue. The Yaeger vehicle was struck by the Wiley vehicle as it turned across the highway.

Andy Shaffer and Mike Stephens of the Rangely Rural Fire Protection District extinguished a blaze that started in the back of a Rangely Trash Service truck on Dec. 29. Smoldering fireplace ashes were suspected as the cause of the fire.
