All men are more or less alike; the only difference is that occasionally one has a conscience.

The ancestors of society’s insolvent blue-bloods stole cattle, butchered men, and bought titles for themselves, while our millionaires rob men, butcher cattle and buy titles for their daughters — a difference merely of age and opportunity.

A year ago last spring Will Huddleston brought in a dozen California quail from that state and turned them loose in this vicinity. Very little was seen or heard of them since, but last week Mr. Huddleston had the satisfaction of counting 17 in a covey on Sheridan’s ranch, and heard several others whistling.

Bert Whitlock has moved to town and opened his taxidermy shop in the Fred Riley house near the river. Bert can do your taxidermy work in good shape.

The figures on smallpox in the City of Denver are not only interesting but very instructive, and should go far to convince these people who profess not to believe in vaccination that the only safe method of protection is immediate and successful vaccination. You cannot force people to be vaccinated but you can force them to be quarantined. It is generally conceded that everyone who has not been vaccinated within the past five years should be revaccinated.

Monday, the White River Electric crew put up the annual court house lights. The lights were bought in 1950 and their first display was in 1952. The cost to put up these lights runs at $110. This includes labor, electricity and replacement of lights. The approximate number of lights is around 200 on the large tree and 50 on each of the small trees.

Receiving their Outstanding Back, Lineman and Defensive awards from Coach Tucker are four Meeker athletes. Don Ivie and Billy Stewart tied for the offensive back award, while Doug Overton cornered the lineman award and Craig Jackson captured the defensive trophy. All of the boys were named tot the Northwest League All-Conference team.

The chances that the Meeker Town Hall will move to the Fairfield Center are significantly greater today after the Meeker Town Council announced on Nov. 25 that the council has decided to move the town hall to make room for an enlarged fire station.

It’s the start of a new season, and a new era, for the Meeker High School wrestling team. Meeker will have a new head coach this year. Willy Theos has become the fourth head coach in Meeker’s 45-year wrestling history. Theos follows Mike Tate who was preceded by Bill Turner and the late Paul Starbuck.

Miss Cathy Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wilczek of Rangey, was honored at the annual 4-H banquet when she was presented a trophy for being the Outstanding Junior 4-H Girl of 1972.

Prejudice is a universal time saver. It permits us to form solid opinions without bothering to obtain any of the facts.

RHS sophomore Larissa Hinaman is diving for the Moffat County Bulldogs Swim Team.

The Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Town of Rangely, lit up the Christmas lights at Town hall on Dec. 2. Dozens of young Rangelyites showed up to visit Santa, who in turn lit up many a red cheeked face.
