Some traitors are bad, and others are merely good men who have been converted from the error of their ways and are no longer available for campaign use.
A young lady from the outside gives Meeker great praise for the good dancing and nice behavior of our young men at the public dances.
Workmen are busy putting in the new gas system and by the end of next week nearly all the stores and a number of private residences in town will be brilliantly lighted by acetylene.

Most of the week showed cold nights and lovely, warm-thawing days. Yesterday was a cloudy day with a mixture of light snow and rain.
Some of the ladies of our community are busy working on the blocks of the church quilt which M.E. Church of Meeker are now making.
Lincoln’s Birthday was quietly observed in Meeker.

Mrs. Lulu Sizemore, who had recently accompanied Mrs. Sam Kinnamon to Reno, Nevada, has recently returned home. The two were met in Reno by Mrs. Kinnamon’s friend, Mrs. George Lake.
Mickey Reagle of Mickey’s Beauty Salon attended a workshop at Ramada Inn in Grand Junction. The workshop on hair coloring and styling was sponsored by Zodo’s Products and was given by representative Terry Schwartz of Denver.
A virus has taken its toll on Meeker students during the last week. According to school nurse Connie Hughes, the virus runs its course in 4 to 7 days. It hit the elementary school last Thursday and seems to be moving through fast. From 70 to 105 children have been absent each day.

The Meeker RE-1 Board of Education voted 5-2 on Feb. 16 to stay with the five-day school week for at least one more year.
Ryan Thayer, the Meeker high school student who died in a vehicle accident earlier this year, has been granted an honorary high school diploma. The school board voted to grant the diploma at the Feb. 16 meeting.
Meeker fifth grader Jessa Mehlhoff recently received notice that she has been selected to be part of the Stars of Tomorrow Talent Showcase in Glenwood Springs.

At a regular meeting on Feb. 5, the Rangely Junior College District Committee adopted a resolution to name the college “Colorado Northwestern Community College,” effective July 1.
Monday evening the Rangely Spartans downed Fort Lewis junior college varsity basketball 88-62 for the 13th win at home. The team is undefeated on the home court to date, the first time in Spartan history.
Stanley Biles of Dinosaur was nominated by Patrolman M.J. Kay for the Safe Driver of the Month award in December sponsored by the Denver Post, United Bank of Denver, and the Colorado Patrol.

The Rangely High School Math Club is competing in the Colorado Math League Contests again this year. The CMLC consists of six contests given throughout the school year. Each contest consists of six challenging questions for which the participants have 30 minutes to answer.
Diana Payne and Jeanne Smith are the proud recipients of the CNCC-Rangely Campus Distinguished Service and Outstanding Teaching Awards.
