The meteorological conditions during the week have been of a favorable character on an average. In other words, it was neither very cold nor very warm.
A large lion hunting party, headed by John Goff, went up Sulphur Creek Sunday morning, but as yet we’ve heard of no returns from the expedition.
The popular branch of Congress has now reached the stage in which the desire for re-election overshadows everything else in the minds of its members.

Working on a new high school building is going along satisfactorily these days due to good weather.
Latest Saturday and early part of the week were warm and spring-like.
Roads around town are dry.

Mr. and Mrs. Brumback returned Wednesday of last week from a few weeks trip which included California and northern parts of Old Mexico.
Claude Shults left Tuesday morning with 7 head of bull and two bred heifers for the Thursday sale in Fort Collins.
Each year on the week of George Washington’s birthday is the National FFA week. The Meeker FFA chapter has 64 members, the officers are as follows: President David Buckles, Vice President Brent Smith, Secretary Steve Wix, Treasurer Kirk Norell, Reporter Darold Nay, Sentinel Matt Smith. The advisors are Coach Starbuck and Doc. Ellsworth.

Cowboy Poetry can be contagious. It has also been reported by many to cure Cabin Fever, Winter Time Blues, and on many occasions women have used it to get that man away from the house.
Experience is something you don’t get until just after you need it.
Former Meeker High School student Devon Harman is a member of the Colorado School of Mines women’s swim team. The team recently placed 10th at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference Championships held in Long Beach, Calif.

The long-awaited Rangely dam and reservoir located east of Rangely on the White River, is several steps nearer reality now that the oil shale and accompanying need for water and power is at hand.
Peggy A. Hanzon has been named Rangely High School’s 1974 Betty Crocker Family Leader of tomorrow. Miss Hanzon won the honor by scoring high in a written knowledge and attitude examination administered to high school seniors here and throughout the country.
Congratulations are in order for Kim Lockhart whose mother recently won the $1,00,00 first prize in the 9th Michigan State Lottery. Kim is a sophomore at Rangely College and learned of his mother’s fortune by telephone last Tuesday night.

Two nurses from Rangely have been nominated for the Nightingale Nursing Award for excellence in human caring. They are Sherley Sheley and Sherry Orlee. Both are employed at Rangely District Hospital and care for in-patients, long-term care, and emergency room patients.
Larry Woodson announced the opening of his new business. Woodson Services is now set up and ready to start work in the Rangely area.
Rachel Cormier of Rangely has been recognized recently for outstanding academic achievement for the fall semester at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado, and has been placed on the Dean’s List. Rachel was a 1998 graduate of Rangely High School and a recipient of the Bookcliff Foundation Scholarship.
