• Two Meeker locals, Gayle Glasgow and Linda Hazelbaker have the honor of being selected as two of the six finalists from the applicants throughout the state of Colorado to compete in the Miss Colorado Wool Contest.
• The sale of the historic Miller Martensen ranch east of Hayden was finalized on Dec. 22, 1971, and was announced last week. It was sold to Glen Paulk, Tom Hall, Jack Moss, and Dean Sandvick.

• The Meeker Cowboys basketball team finished their preseason on Dec. 19, in which they lost to Steamboat and won against Ouray.

• The CNCC Fine Arts Department invites all singers in grades 3-8 to join the new chorus for kids for an opportunity to both sing and perform simple staging and choreography to popular tunes and arrangements.
• Rangely senior Rebecca Olree Swam with the Moffat County team at Delta on Thursday and broke the Moffat County School record for the 200 IM with a time of 2:26.10, and broke the pool record which she set last year for the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.08.
