• Black crickets are becoming dangerously plentiful on the divide between White and Yampa rivers.
• E.D. Hayden is laying the foundation of a handsome residence on Park Avenue. Mr. Hayden will build with stone in modern architectural style, and will incidentally give Meekerites and idea of what he can do in his own line — stone work.

• The Auto Park on the river bank at the food of Sixth Street was considerably improved this week by the installation of electric lights and the extension of the town water system to supply mountain water to the campers.
• The Craig Creamery is now paying only 22 cents for butter fat. The management attributes the drop in price to the railroad and coal strikes, and general unrest now prevailing.

• Gov. John Love hinted last Tuesday he may delay the Project Rio Blanco nuclear stimulation experiment in the Piceance Creek basin.
• Rich Amick, former Meekerite now dipping into the music field, has recently released his first long play stereo album titled “There’s a Light Guiding Me.” Rich, son of Mrs. Cleora Amick now of Hayden, has teamed up with Jim Porter and they are now singing selected gospel songs. Rich graduated from Meeker High in 1964.

• Nichols GMC recently observed its 25th anniversary as a GMC dealer in Meeker. Regional GMC manager Timothy Maloney presented a handsome award to Nancy Sullivan and Bren Sulivan who own and operate the business.
• Scott McInnis, son-in-law of Meeker’s David and Sue and Smith, received the National Sheriff’s Association Certificate of Appreciation from the group’s executive director. Scott is our Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives. Scott’s wife Lori graduated from Meeker High School.

• What appeared to be a one-man crime wave plagued Rangely residents last weekend when two cars were stolen, one filling station burglarized and many other items stolen from a ranch home east of Rangely.
• Ken Hayden posted a score of 919 in last week’s Colorado muzzleloading state championship shoot held at Grand Lake. In his first year of competition, Hayden easily defeated the defending champion, Jerry Rhodes of Texas.
