• The warm spell of this week caused a considerable rise in White River.
• One of the fool measures the people of Colorado will be called on to vote for or against at the coming state election will be an anti-vivisection law. When you come to it vote against it. It is gotten up by the Ancient League of Busybodies who are ready to regulate and reform everybody but themselves.

• A proposal that “we open Rio Blanco County to Northwest Colorado Mental Health Service Inc.,” was presented to the county commissioners Friday afternoon by a group of Meeker residents. The commissioners made no personal commitments, but will consider the program when preparing next year’s budget.
• The brief, yet significant Memorial Day service conducted by members of the American Legion at Highland Cemetery Monday morning at 10 a.m. was attended by a fairly large crowd.

• Meeker and Rangely could become part of the information superhighway. And Rio Blanco County is being asked to cough up some money to study ways to make this come to pass. But the county commissioners don’t know whether this would be a wise use of taxpayer money and urgently need your advice on the matter.
• For small employers in Meeker who have been unable to afford to offer health care insurance for employees, help may be on the way.

• Rangely High School is the newer school in town. It’s also the school with the worst roof. “The concern is that with this kind of roof, it could shatter and go quickly,” said Gordon Pearson, Director of Maintenance.
• A flash flood late Monday afternoon, June 2, ran across Highway 139 at the bottom of the pass. There were no closures, but the flood left rocks, mud and debris in its wake.
