The School Board have hired W.H Clark as principal and Miss Gibbs as teacher of the primary department. The Intermediate department has been offered to Miss Carson.
The cricket campaign is now in full operation and as much progress is being made as could be expected under the difficulties encountered. Field Manager Corkins is hampered in his operations by limitations in his forces. Up to this time the cricket fighters are all volunteers. Help in the fight.

A hatchery is maintained at the lake, and approximately 500,000 trout are hatched out to stock Trappers lake and surrounding waters.
Word comes from Craig that the Moffat county people have subscribed their lands bonus to secure the construction of the Wamsutter-Craig railroad. This is pleasing to the people here abouts, for the reason that if the proposed road is built to Craig it will be continued on to Mt Streeter: and if continued to Axial basin coal camp, there will be no reason why it should not be continued to Meeker.

A fire alarm around 9:15 Friday evening, summoned volunteer firemen to the apartment of Brent Goodrich at the corner of 8th and Main. However, by the time the trucks arrived, the flaming pan of grease had been extinguished by Ross Gibbon.
The possibility of a major ski area in Rifle was revealed to the Garfield County planning commission recently by Bill Moulton, manager of Rifle Ski Corp. “ We are not saying that we are going to develop a ski area, just that we have acquired this land and we are thinking of doing something with it.”

The state of Colorado ranked Meeker airport eighth in the state in terms of the economic impact it has on its community. There are 76 airports in the state. Rick Ullom, the road and bridge supervisor for Rio Blanco County, produced a pamphlet based on state aviation study. The publication said that in 1996, the Meeker airport produced $4,169,200 in economic activity for the eastern half of the country.

Miss Michelle Usery, daughter of Mr. and MS. Frank Usery, is the winner of the “Beef for Father’s Day” contest recently sponsored by the Rio Blanco County Cowbelles. Her prize, a five-pound beef roast, was presented by Bernie Stephenson at Nicholas store in Rangely.
A Veteran of the U.S Navy, Dr. Young was on the faculty of Rangely High School, Rangely Colorado, 1960-67 and director of Financial Aids and Instructor of Business at Rangely College 1970-72.

Rangely 4-H High Hopes Horse club presents summer’s first 4-H Open horse show on Saturday June 20 at Columbine Park.
Jeff Olree took high point swimmer for the 13-14 boys again. The Rangely Hurricanes’ placed 5th overall. All of the swimmers took seconds off their best times and qualified for Western Slope Championship meet and Silver State Championship.
