• According to a Denver Republican of a late date, the famous Edwards estate, of New York, will soon be settled and Mr. J. W. Edwards, a former well known and highly respected citizen of these parts, will get his long expected cut of half a million or more.
• Mr. Dreifuss, a beloved Meeker resident, was found dead at Cherry ranch near the city of Denver.

• Paul Hahnewald, the largest property owner of the south, came to Meeker on Sunday to look after his expensive interests and make plans for a big spring and summer improvement campaign.
• Mr. and Mrs. V.C. Moulton returned to meeker Monday, after a brief trip to Steamboat, where the winter Ice carnival was enjoyed and a visit was had with old folks, all of whom are well.

• Nothing in the past possibly startled Rio Blanco county pioneer Arthur Amick more than “this crashing noise” of plate glass windows and mirrors, followed by the sudden appearance of an automobile into the living room of a tri-level home at 835 Cleveland Thursday Afternoon.
• The Men’s City Bowling Tournament held over the weekend was well attended and enjoyed.

• The new Tenth Street bridge over the White River will be built just to the east of the present bridge, at an estimated cost of $616,859.ten
• Elementary schoolers were visited by zoo animals of the Pocket Pet 4-H club for the February Book-a-mania celebration.

• The Commonwealth Coal Co. of Denver has purchased a large body of commercial coal six miles north of Meeker on the west side of Highway 13 from Bill Jenkins and plans to operate and mine there.
• The High School band is having a fund-raising project between March 9- April 25, and will give a 1972 Kawaski 175 Bike to some lucky person.

• A Vernal man was murdered 12 miles west of Rangely on a lonely, windblown stretch of Hwy. 64.
• Staff members from Samson resources, Chevron USA and Tricky Trucking worked together on Monday, March 10, in continuing efforts to clean up an oil spill that made its way to the White River.
