- About 10:30 Monday morning the fire alarm was sounded and the fire hose rushed to the residence of Victor Slifka on east Market Street.
- Meeker has few disadvantages experienced in the general run of inland towns, as the following list of some of the most essential things to be found here will clearly show: A municipal gravity water system, a municipal electric light and power plant, a flour mill, a creamery, two substantial banks, four general merchandise stores, two meat markets, one bakery, one hardware store, two drugstores, three blacksmith shops, a gens’ furning store, a ladies’ furnishing store, a furniture store, two harness shops, a butcher and cleaner, one cattle lan and finance corporation, two newspapers with job offices, a lumber yard, two garages, one tire repair shop, one bottling works, a public library, two hotels, Rio Blanco Commercial Club, three restaurants, fairgrounds and race track, three churches—Episcopal, Methodist and Catholic, two 2-chair barber shops, one ladies hair dressing parlor, one moving picture show, one real estate office, one life insurance agent, one attorney, two doctors, one dentist, two shoe repair shops.

- Friday’s semi-final game with the Rifle Bears had to be the most nerve-racking exciting game that most people in Meeker had ever seen. After leading by as much as 10 points at one time, Meeker let Rifle catch up the second half and tie the game, 49-49 at the end of regulation time. The pressure was almost unbelievable the next nine minutes as it took three overtimes before the Cowboys could manage to come out smelling like a rose after it looked like they had tossed it away several times.
- Dave Allen of Meeker has completed 30 years as an employee with the State Highway Department and in recognition of his 30 years of service has received a 30 year pin and letters of congratulation and appreciation for his services from the Honorable Governor John Love and State Highway Director Shumate.

- Tel Gates won the grand championship at the annual feeder steer show over the weekend in Meeker, at the county fairgrounds. Jerrod Smith was reserve champ.

- Wayne Nickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nickson of Rangely, after performing with the Colorado All-State Choir in Denver recently, has been invited by two nationally-known choirs to audition for them, the U.S. Honor Choir of Santa Monica, California and the Universal Academy for Music, Princeton, New Jersey.
- Rangely District Hospital has just completed installation of its new Coronary Care Unit in an effort to provide the latest up-dated facilities for handling patients with coronary infarctions.

- After months of preparation, Giant Step Preschool is now operating in a new building on 246 E. Main St.
- The PAC believes that the RHS smokers need to be removed from public views, so that grade school kids can not see them. RHS smokers are flocking on the sidewalk in front of the school before and after school and in between classes. The problem that school officials are encountering is that the sidewalk is not part of the school property, and they are free to smoke in that area.
