- Word reached town yesterday that a man was found dead in a cabin on the east fork Big Beaver. Coroner Niblock has gone up there to investigate.
- Simp Harp was informed a few days ago by George M. Bowers, US fish commissioners that a consignment of brook trout would be received here for distribution in White River within the next 40 days.

- The topic of interest in Meeker during the past week centered on the question of the town taking over the Electric Light plant.
- The small bunch of sheep at the Smith ranch are starting off the spring season just right. One day last week, a “mammy” sheep increased the flock with another lamb: the next day another sheep came forth with two lambs: following an old ewe increased the flock by three.

- For the past six months a group of young people from the High School and Junior High wave been working for a Teen Center, and on March 9, it opened. A ping pong table will be installed later this week as well as a snooker table.
- At the last hearing before the Rio Blanco County Planning Commission, the 5-member board voted 4-1 to reject theWilderness Subdivision plan, passing the recommendation onto the Commissioners for their final action shortly.

- Homeowners in the Sage Hills subdivision in the future are going to be ruled by not one, but two homeowners associations. Meeker home builder Jerry Belland, the principal of Sage Hills LLC, is consolidating 58 small lots into 37 larger parcels so the lots conform to the town’s zoning requirements.
- Bill Massa recently opened his chiropractic practice in room 25 upstairs in the Hugus Building at Sixth and Main.

- New Exalted Ruler for Rangely Elks Lodge No. 1907 is Walt Spetter. Elections were held March 20 and installation of officers was held shortly after.
- The Colorado Division of Wildlife completed the second winter of deer trapping operations in the Piceance basin in early March. This year, 427 deer were both banded and ear tagged, and another 90 deer were eartagged only.

- Mason Stokes can often be seen poking around for buried treasure at City Park. But his sights are set much lower than pieces of eight or gold bullion. Stokes, who says he’s been searching for lost loot for the past 40 years, says his biggest find was a gold ring worth $150.
- With a combined cast of about 75 performers from Meeker, Rangely, Moffat County and South Routt County, the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “OKLAHOMA!” opened last Saturday.
