A good deal of “celebratin’” was indulged in Wednesday and Thursday, as a goodly number of our citizens felt very jubilant over election results.
A light snow fell Monday night, and it looked a little squally election morning, but the day turned out all right.
A.L. Durham has moved into town with his family for the purpose of taking advantage of our superior school privileges.

It’s not too early to commence thinking about Christmas shopping.
Fred Burke of Piceance was a business visitor to Meeker, Wednesday.
Most of the stone and brick work on the new high school building is completed for the first story. If our present fine weather continues, Contractor Thomas will make good progress from now on.

We sure hope MHS principal Dick Flaherty doesn’t decide to use this picture as proof to call these boys down to the office for swats. Although it’s against school policy, it didn’t really take much coaxing to start up a good old snowball fight the day after Meeker had its first winter storm. The cold weather dropped 10 inches of the white stuff between Thursday and Saturday nights. Temperatures for the week ranged from a low on Monday night of 4 degrees to a high of 63 degrees on Wednesday. By then all the snow in town had melted away.
Kay Bivens was recognized on 4-H Achievement Night.
County Commissioner C. W. “Bill” Brennan, Rancher H. G. “Si” Berthelson and attorney Frank Cooley traveled to Washington, D.C. Wednesday where Brennan and Berthelson will testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs concerning the formation of the Flattops Wilderness Area today.

The annual Meeker Community Craft Bazaar was a success once again. The event, sponsored by the Meeker Ladies Social Club, drew large crowds on both Friday and Saturday.
The 1998 Meeker Cowgirl volleyball team took a moment to pose for the camera with their third place trophy.

Jeff Looney is the new manager in Rangely. The Texas native came to Rangely from Malakoff, Texas, a town of 2,500 where he was town manager.
