MEEKER | The public can join the excitement of the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials, one of Northwest Colorado’s premier fall events, from Sept. 4-8 and save some money and a lot of hassle.
Rio Blanco County residents can purchase five-day passes at half price at Wendll’s Wondrous Things and at the Meeker Chamber of Commerce. Discounted tickets, not available at the gate, are $15 for adults and $7 for seniors (65 and older) and children, aged 8-16. Children under 8 are admitted free.
To save ticket-line hassles, single-day passes can also be purchased in advance at Wendll’s or at the chamber for $10 for adults and $5 per child.
For more fun, less hassle and expense and no long walk, ride the shuttle or horse-drawn carriage to the Ute Park trial site. These services are thanks to the generosity of Pioneers Medical Center and Sable Mountain Outfitters.
The Meeker Streaker shuttle will run Friday through Sunday from the White River Inn, Blue Spruce Inn and the courthouse lawn, with an additional stop at the Meeker Chamber of Commerce on the weekend.
The complete schedule is posted at the Meeker Post Office. Ann Marie Scritchfield will drive her lovely horse and rig Saturday and Sunday on a continuous loop from Ute Park to the courthouse square.
For those who do not buy tickets in advance, the shuttles will stop at the gate for ticket purchase.
Donations to the Meeker Streaker, c/o Pioneers Healthcare Foundation, and tips for van and carriage drivers are always appreciated.
