Rangely Police Chief Ti Hamblin announced this week that Mercy McAlister, dispatch supervisor for the Rangely Police Department (RPD), has been named Dispatch Supervisor of the Year for 2020 by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) and National Emergency Number Association (NENA). This is a peer-nominated award. McAlister was selected out of all the dispatch supervisor nominations in Colorado, with the Kansas APCO Executive board making the final selection on the winner. McAlister has been the RPD dispatch supervisor since 2014. According to a statement from Hamblin, “She immediately got to work raising the standard in training, and overall work performance in our dispatchers. We are very proud that her hard work is being recognized at the state level.”
