MEEKER | One of Meeker’s most special events is the annual quilt show sponsored by the local P.E.O. Chapter BA. There will be 111 quilts on display this year so allow plenty of time to look at all of them. These are handmade quilts made by the talented folks of Meeker and nearby areas. In addition, heritage quilts are entered that have been inherited.
If you’ve ever watched someone quilt, you can appreciate the patience and attention to detail that is required. Every year, new patterns and colors appear. You are sure to be entertained. This year is the 13th annual show and you won’t want to miss it.
Show dates are Friday, Sept. 5 from 12-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairfield Center.
The funds raised from this show are used to provide a college scholarship for one of Meeker’s high school graduates. An opportunity quilt will be displayed along with the sale of tickets to enter the drawing for this quilt.
Also, don’t miss the opportunity to purchase homemade cookies, pies, and other goodies that are on sale and usually get snapped up quickly.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization that provides a network for women and support of women’s education. The local BA Chapter was founded in 1919 and continues its active support of women, education and community.
