Change is hard, and letting go of things is harder still, but sometimes it’s unavoidable.
We’ve made the difficult decision to end publication of the Northwest Colorado Hunting Guide this year. A combination of factors have brought us to this point, chief among them the increased cost of printing and distribution. If we had a sales person devoted to beating the streets for new and recurring advertising, and a content writer dedicated to hunting-related stories, and a distribution person to handle the delivery of the magazines, we could squeak another one under the wire, as we’ve done the last few years. But we don’t have those things, and that brings annoying business terms like “cost-benefit analysis” and “return on investment” into play.
For us, putting first things first means the weekly newspaper is our primary mission. We intend to use the newspaper to provide hunting-related information and advertising for our local businesses, as was done before the inception of the magazine. Trophy photos and stories are welcome, and we’ll make space for them in the HT.
Meanwhile, we are looking for an advertising sales rep. Set your own schedule, expand your territory as much as you like, earnings based on your effort and sales ability. For the right person, there’s definite potential for growth. See the ad in the classifieds if you’re interested.
