ERBM Recreation & Park District’s board met Feb. 21 to discuss the following agenda topics.
ADA UPDATES
The board of directors reviewed a list of items to be addressed to bring ERBM properties into compliance with the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act). Executive Director Sean VonRoenn this was to update and expand to an existing list of items for improvement based on changes to the ADA that happened in 2010. The board approved a five-year plan to address 172 items district staff identified as priorities. “We’ve been kind of addressing big ticket items over time, so this was to kind of get into the nitty gritty,” said VonRoenn.
INVESTMENTS
The board discussed investments, noting that $750K has been invested out $2-million in total the board approved previously. Director Edwards said that the district should make sure all its policies about investments and transferring money are check thoroughly. “You should know the investment broker, you should know those contacts and things like that,” she said. VonRoenn said staff was on top of the issue.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT
The board went back and forth before approving proposed changes to Meeker Rec Center operations hours including plans to close the pool earlier on Fridays and to open the building later on Sundays due to staffing issues. Starting March 3 the Rec Center will open from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The pool will open 30 minutes after the building opens on Sunday and also close two hours early on Friday, but the rest of the building will remain open.
VonRoenn updated the board on new hires and recruitment including for parks/facility maintenance supervisor, maintenance technician and rec department supervisor.
Following the resignation of two full-time employees VonRoenn says they’ll rehire one and turn the other position into multiple part-time positions.
RIVERFRONT PROJECT
ERBM is a finalist for the Community Impact GOCO grant following the end of the public input process which ended on Feb. 17. VonRoenn noted that they are hoping to have a permit from the Army Corp of Engineers ready to go by the GOCO application finalist deadline which is March 20. “Then we would be able to meet with town trustees on putting together a full RFP for construction bids in May,” said VonRoenn, adding “then potentially get under contract in late summer if all the stars align.”
In other business the board approved January financial reports and a contract with Colo CPA to provide 2022 financial audit services. Director Kent Walters also self-nominated for re-election for the upcoming election in May.
