MEEKER I The White River Snowmobile Club will be hosting its Family Fun Day on Jan. 23 at Ute Park, located just west of the Meeker city limits.
Participants are urged to bring friends, family, sleds and snowmobiles although it is not necessary to have a snowmobile to come and have fun with the group.
The club will furnish a chili lunch and hot beverages.
There will be snowmobile racing, a kids-groomed sledding hill and a beacon scavenger hunt.
Admission is free for spectators but there is a $10 entry fee for the race participants.
Racer registration starts at 10:30 a.m., the event opens at 11, the races start at 11:30 a.m. Racers are reminded to bring avalanche beacons to freshen their skills at the scavenger hunt.
The races consist of three events: a barrel race, pole bending (a slalom) and the radar run of one-eighth mile.
The will be no classes of competition, just a bring-what-you-have format. The person who has the fastest combined time will win the pot.
The pot will be made up of half of the total entry fees.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
