MEEKER | This year’s Mustang Mingle has an extraordinary new flair thanks to our great Party Committee: Christy Borchard, Elizabeth Pearce, Christine Halandras, Jayne Coley and Di Harber.
Coming up on Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at the 4-H Building at the Fairgrounds is a star-studded event with mustang trainers from all over the West, coming to Meeker to compete the next day in the sixth annual Meeker Mustang Makeover. We’ve had calls from across the country interested in buying these horses at the auction this year.
This year the event will sport 10 beautiful competing tablescapes by some of our town’s most
creative and talented designers: Connie Hughes, Christine Halandras, Debbie Cook, Michelle Bonilla, Tiffany Jehorek, Cindy Nelson, Teresia Ruckman-Reed, Joyce Holland and Christy Borchard. With only one or two tables left for designers, if you’re interested in being a designer please call Christy: 970-261-2729. Prizes for the most creative, best Western, and most beautiful tablescapes are provided by Ashleigh Christy’s.
Jayne Coley and Di Harber are organizing a silent auction which already includes a Mystery Dinner for four at the White River Museum catered by Ma Famiglia, a night at Trappers Lake and a night at Ute Lodge, a horseback riding adventure with Welder Ranch and Outfitting and several beauty treatments from some of our excellent local salons.
The award-winning Little Pink Truck will provide superb barbecue, accompanied by live music from the Eighth Street Pickers (wear your dancing shoes) and finally the Lions Club one-and-only special cocktail: The Meeker Mustang Margarita! Don’t miss out, wear your cowboy hat and boots, and giddy-up on Friday, Aug. 23.
Tickets are $35, and $15 for kids 12 and under. Table sponsorships available, $350. Call Di Harber to reserve at 720-205-2399.

Pictured is a centerpiece for one of the tables at the Mustang Mingle on Friday, Aug. 23 made by Christy Borchard, which is a copy of “Lovey” — an orphan fall from the Piceance Mustang herd.
