RANGELY | The Panthers only had one dual last week, and that is when they traveled to Meeker last Thursday.
“Meeker is a tough team,” said head coach JC Chumacero, “I’m not disappointed in how we wrestled, but I did feel we looked a little sluggish.”
Kobey Chism pinned Jake Blazon and Zane Varner won 9-4 over Trinden Powell giving the Panthers nine points to Meeker’s 66.
After the loss Chumacero said the guys “were upset and ready to hit the room hard and get ready for regionals.”
This Friday the Panthers are scheduled to have their first home dual hosting Dove Creek, Nucla, and a team of Soroco and North Park combined.
“We are happy to have a home showing; these young men have been working hard and deserve to compete in front of their friends and family,” commented Chumacero.
The visiting teams will wrestle first and the Panthers are scheduled to wrestle the third dual of the evening against Soroco/North Park, followed by Nucla and ending the evening with Dove Creek.
The matches begin at 3 p.m. with Nucla and Soroco, Rangely is scheduled to hit the mat at 5 p.m., but the times posted are tentative, if the previous duals wrap up faster the following will begin immediately.
