MEEKER I Former Meeker resident Jessa Mehlhoff was selected as Miss Metropolitan 2012 at the first local preliminary competition held in November for the Miss Colorado pageant.
She will be a contestant in the 2012 Miss Colorado Pageant (Miss America) to be held June 14-16, 2012, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Downtown Denver.
Mehlhoff, 23, will graduate from the University of Denver in June with an MBA and an MS in marketing. She was graduated cum laude from the Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing/finance. While at Arkansas, Jessa was active in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, serving as treasurer, and then president. In addition, she was the recipient of a study abroad grant to attend the International Business School in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Jessa attended Meeker Elementary and Barone Middle School. Like many young girls, she dreamed of one day competing in the Miss America pageant. Her platform, Women in Media, seeks to inspire Colorado’s young women to become leaders by counteracting the negative influences in today’s media. Jessa has studied leadership extensively and has held various leadership positions throughout her educational career.
