Takes home $100K, sits atop 2021 PRCA ranks
RANGELY | Professional bull rider Colten Fritzlan of Rifle, Colorado, has done it again in Arlington Texas, this time at RFD-TV’s The American. The American is an annual event that occurs each year at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The American is now “the world’s richest weekend in Western sports” and paid out $2.35 million through a series of qualifiers, the semifinals, and the final event, RFD-TV’s The American. The top 10 from the previous year’s final PRCA standings automatically qualify for the next year’s American and they are pitted against underdogs who advance from The American semifinals to battle for the biggest single paycheck of their lives.
This year, The American rodeo took place March 6-7, with the semifinals beginning on Feb. 25. Fritzlan won the long go on March 6 with an 89.75 ride and the short go second performance on March 7 with an 89.50. Fritzlan wowed the judges and crowd with a 90.25 ride in the final shoot out performance event last Saturday, earning a $100,000 paycheck and loads of respect for the young cowboy. He is currently sitting atop the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association ranks as the world bull riding leader for 2021.
