MEEKER | This Saturday morning, April 27 starting at 8:30 a.m., the Fairgrounds will witness a lot of anxiety and excitement as trainers gather to inspect the just-delivered Mustangs and make their selections for the Meeker Mustang Makeover competition in August.
Trainers go up and down the pens, looking carefully at the horses, trying to decipher their disposition, confirmation, and potential for partnership.
Join us for the excitement as trainers draw their number and then make their selection from what is rumored to be a particularly exciting and attractive group of mustangs, this year from Roberts Mountain, Nevada, where they were recently gathered.
These youth and adults have 120 days to take their mustang from seeing them as a predator like a mountain lion, to a willing partner able to move cows, go over an obstacle course and more.
The Lions Club will serve lunch and Steve Mantle will do his incredible “getting started” clinic to help trainers increase their knowledge of how to use natural horsemanship to start their Mustang.
This year, we will also have a kids camp starting at noon for our young trainers to give them hands on opportunity with already trained horses as well as wild ones.
Join us for the whole day, but be sure to be there in the morning during the selection, which is exciting to see the kick off of these remarkable journeys for these brave and capable horse trainers starting as young as 10 years old.
