As we gather to honor and support our brave veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) invites the community to participate in our mission and consider becoming a member. Our VFW is dedicated to ensuring that our local heroes are recognized, supported, and engaged in the community.
We hold monthly meetings every second Thursday at 5:30 p.m., with our next meeting scheduled for July 10 at our facility located on 4th Street next to Mountain Valley Bank. These gatherings provide a platform for veterans and community members to connect, share ideas, and plan events that aim to enhance support for veterans and their families.
Membership in the VFW offers numerous benefits, but what’s most important is the sense of community it fosters among veterans and their families. Even if you can’t attend meetings right now, we encourage all local veterans to sign up as members. Several veterans’ organizations across the United States are experiencing a decline in membership, often due to a lack of awareness among younger veterans about the resources available to them through organizations like the VFW.
We are excited to announce plans for events that will rekindle some of the vibrant activities we previously offered, and the involvement of active members is crucial. With your participation, we can keep our VFW thriving and continue to serve as a cornerstone of support for the veteran community.
The spirit of our veterans is palpable in the community, especially as they hoist the colors at local sporting events. These moments teach our children essential values and create cherished memories for families. We intend to keep this spirit alive, and we can only do that with your help.
While we do not charge for our events, we appreciate any donations to help maintain our facility, sustain our scholarship programs, and ensure that we can continue hosting community events. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of our veterans and the broader community.
Join us in celebrating our veterans—visit our next meeting, sign up for membership, and help us spread the word about the VFW. Together, we can strengthen our bonds and ensure that the sacrifices of those who served are remembered and honored within our community.
